Paper Landscape

Overview of Project

They will be presented with precut 6" x 8" sheets of paper from a variety of colors. They will use colored paper to show the foreground, mid-ground, and background. Before layering the sheets of paper they will choose their setting; whether it be the suburbs, the city, or the country. Students will learn a variety of visual techniques and learn the importance of using the different components of visual arts while creatively using the principles and elements. Using mixed media to understand elements such as: line, shape, form, color, and space. Using mixed media to understand principles such as: repetition and contrast.

Essential Question(s)

Students will react to their own association with what a landscape will look like in the form of composition, cut paper, and colored pencil.

None

Timeline

Examples of student or artist work

Friday Day1- introduction to topic, and examples. Students will begin drawing on paper, then begin cutting and gluing. Tuesday Day 2- wrap up of the assignment.

Outcome

Everyone will know the process of creating a landscape that shows an understanding of the principles and elements of visual art.

Materials

6 x 8 colored paper Glue sticks Colored pencils Xerox copies of visual references including: trees, houses, cars, and buildings.
