Overview of Project

Helping the students paint their costumes for a play Star Search. I will be using color theory by only using primary colors to mix and create a secondary color.

Essential Question(s)

How can we we respectful with paint? What happens when we mix colors?

Prior Knowledge

Students should have a basic understanding of the soloar system.

What did you learn about mixing colors?

Materials

Primary paint colors(Red, Yellow, Blue)
Costumes made from foam core
foam brushes
drop cloth
cups, two per student
paper towels
color chart
Any of these materials can be purchased at an art supply store or home improvement store

Procedures

1. Gather the class
2. Have a disscussion about color and color mixing
3. Demo on painting and color mixing 4. have the student go out to painting area group by group 5. have student find the cups with their name and when they are sitting with their hand raised a teacher will give them paint.
6. Start Painting
7. Write name on planet of star
8. Let them dry and gather back in classroom
9. Clean up

Teacher Reflection

I thought this project went really well. The students did a wonderfull job of exploring color mixing and being very respectful with paint.

The class created solar system mobiles were the colored each planet and explored color mixing with crayons.

The students learned how to mix color with paint and how to use two primary colors to create a secondary color.
